As part of the ongoing mission of nonprofit Maine College Circle to help Maine students get more information about their opportunities in higher education, and at a younger age . . .

Maine College Circle offers college workshops for all interested school districts. In the past ten years, these workshops have reached over 20,000 Maine students, grades 3 – 12, in 101 Maine communities.

Depending upon the grade level, these workshops will discuss:
•    What college is?
•    Why students choose to go to college?
•    Why some students don't go to college?
•    What you can study in college and why you should be interested?
•    What colleges might best match your interests, needs, and values?
•    Can your family really afford a college education?
•    What you can do today to make college more accessible, more affordable, and more rewarding?

We hope that these workshops will help students and parents gain a better understanding of what college is and how to make the most of the opportunity. We also hope that the workshop will build student aspirations. But, before we ask students to aspire to college, they must know what it is and how they may benefit.

Bob Stuart of Maine College Circle is available to offer workshops to:
•    classrooms (or larger groups), grades 3 – 12;
•    high school classrooms to discuss college options related to the course subject;
•    teacher groups at the end of the class day to discuss how to help students toward college;
•    parent groups after school or in the evening to discuss college options, the college admissions process, and paying for college.
